The tech advancements through the ME map tells be a global map would certainly be achievable. I think they can just stop at around 1899 and keep the ranges to a reasonable level. Who knows, maybe the next big historical title will be TW Victoria, mind you that it bleeds kinda into WW1 technology wise. Think they needed to wait for tech advancements to do a Victoria period well and still got a way to go it would seem. I rather prefer Attila naval battles, where I found more variety, but still naval battles feel chaotic and quite difficult to handle, as everything goes too fast and wind seems to have no effect in ship speeds.įinally I do not have Thrones of Britannia but I may purchase it when I purchase a new and better computer, but what I have seen in very few videos, naval battles are similar to Attila when selecting viking factions. While I am satisfied with the ship details and crew, the gameplay is not really comfortable, turning into chaotic battles where is almost impossible to handle the situation. I was excited about Rome 2 naval battles as this is the only game I know (and I guess there is no alternatives) with naval battles in an ancient era. It's a shame Creative Assembly didn't expand this idea to a more broad scope, It would have been interesting to see a Total War based in the victorian era, after Napoleonic Wars where ships and naval technology evolved during 19th century with interesting ship designs. Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai introduces an interesting naval period with ironclads and steamed armored and wood frigates and gunboats. There are also some mods aiming to improve the naval gameplay and ships such as Naval Supremacy of Empires for Empire Total War with impressive hull textures for some factions. I play mostly Empire and Napoleon, you are right both games have impressive naval battles with highly detailed vessels and crew, even considering today's standards. You really don’t even need a navy most of the time, and can get by without them. I think I only tried a naval battle in Rome 2 once or twice and autoresolved forever after, and never bothered to try Attila naval battles despite having 1000 hours in that game. I liked the Naval battles in Shogun 2 / FotS. Unfortunately, much of the rest of those games feel quite dated at this point. 2K A Total War Saga: Thrones of BritanniaĮmpire / Napoleon naval battles are super fun.847 A Total War Saga: Fall of the Samurai.
